Why does a cask gain strength in Kentucky and lose it in Goa? The angel's share, humidity, and the water you add back
Every warehouse leaks. What is less obvious is that it leaks different things in different climates — and the ratio of alcohol to water in that loss decides whether a cask comes out stronger or weaker than it went in. That single number sets how much blending water a bottling needs, how many bottles a cask yields, and in humid warehouses, whether the spirit is still legally whisky at all.
